Mrs. Megan Dreher, Grade 5

Mrs. Megan DreherHello, my name is Megan Dreher. I am originally from Browerville. I graduated from the University of Minnesota Morris in 2013. I have a degree in Elementary Education K-6. At St. Mary’s I am the 5th grade teacher, I also teach music to PK-6th grade. Ever since I was in Kindergarten I have wanted to be a teacher, I have always loved school. I love to see joy in a child’s eyes when they discover something new or make a connection. It is also fun to be able to grow in my faith along side my students.  My husband Tyler and I live near Browerville and we have a son named Oakley. I enjoy playing sports, watching sports, reading and doing “do-it-yourself” projects!

Mrs. Julie Twardowski, Grade 6

I teach 6th Graders, and some courses for our St. Mary 5th Graders! I began my teaching career in 1992, shortly after college graduation. Working at St. Mary School has blessed me in so many ways. I was born and raised in Browerville, Minnesota. In 1991, I married Chad and made the big move of 8 miles to Long Prairie! My family and I live five miles Northeast of town.

I have two daughters, Elizabeth and Allyssa, who keep me very busy outside of school. My husband, Chad, owns an excavating company. My hobbies include going on walks, shopping, and spending time with my family.

Mrs. Barbara Sandberg, Grade 4

Sandberg_BarbI graduated from the College of St. Catherine. I began my teaching career in 1978, at Pierz and then at Christ the King in Browerville before joining the staff at St. Mary’s School in 2000.  It is very rewarding to watch young students learn new skills and get excited about learning.  When I am not teaching, I enjoy reading books, cooking new dishes, and being with my family.

I am married and have children and grandchildren. In my spare time I enjoy reading, gardening, baking, horseback riding, some sports, nature walks, and spending time with family and friends.

Mrs. Joni Young, Pre-Kindergarten

Young_JoniMy name is Joni Young. I have been teaching Preschool at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel School since I began my teaching career in 2007. I grew up in Long Prairie,  graduating from Long Prairie/Grey Eagle High School in 2003. I continued my education at Northwestern College, St. Paul, graduating in May, 2007. I have a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education, a Major in Bible and a Minor in Preprimary Education.
I absolutely love teaching and cannot imagine my days any other way. I love helping children learn all about the world around them through new and adventurous ways. Their little minds just amaze me! Getting to know all the amazing families right as they enter our school is another great aspect of my job! We truly have such great families in our school and I am blessed to know each of them!
When I am not at school, I love spending time with my family. I have an amazing husband, Jonathan, twin daughters, Ellianna and Addison, and an adorable son, William. We love to go on walks, bike rides, play at the parks and visit lots of new places. I love to spend time fishing, hunting and just enjoying the animals of the outdoors. I have taken up a new hobby, sewing, the last few months, and look forward to trying some new tricks as I continue to learn the craft.
I am excited to be teaching in my hometown and I love that my own children are able to attend St. Mary School.
