Hi. I am Brenda Gugglberger, and I have been the principal at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Catholic School since July, 2004.
I graduated from Bemidji State University in 1986 with a Bachelor of Science degree in English and from St. Cloud State University in 1994 with a Masters of Science Administrative Degree as a Reading Consultant. I taught high school English at MACCRAY in Clara City for 6 years and high school English, Title I, and media studies at Bertha-Hewitt Schools in Bertha for 14 years. During my time at Bertha-Hewitt, I was on a two-year leave and taught reading at Long Prairie-Grey Eagle Middle School in Long Prairie during one of those years. I truly loved the community and was impressed by its educational system, so it was a dream come true to accept a job at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Catholic School and call Long Prairie my hometown.
I have been married to Manfred Gugglberger since August, 1994, and we have three children: Andrew, Alison and Sahra. Our children all attended St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Catholic School and now attend LPGE. We lost our second son, Stefan, when he was stillborn in 1997, and this life event is what formed our family’s priorities, and we made the decision to send our children to a Catholic school so they would have the foundation of faith to see them through life’s challenges.
As a family, we enjoy many activities, but we especially like skiing in the winter. (I actually like to drink coffee in the chalet.) My husband is from Salzburg, Austria, so when we visit our family, the skiing is one of our favorite vacation times.
There is no greater joy than to help children learn about and love Jesus. I love the staff, parents, parishioners, and especially the children at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Catholic School. Our small class sizes and incredible parent support give us a wonderful opportunity to give our students the best possible academic and spiritual education.
My office is always open – the coffee is always on – God is always present!
