A Basket Full of Love

photo1-4Last week we got some of our planting done. The children made their very own ‘Green Houses’ with green beans in them and they planted flowers of their very own. They are very excited to watch them grow. They were checking to see if they grew 5 minutes after they planted the seeds. They were super excited to see that their green beans and flowers had already sprouted Monday morning! We will continue planting this week along with our Easter activities. We will be discussing what Easter is about and remembering how Jesus died on the cross for each and everyone one of us. He would have died just for you if you were the only person!

What an amazing feeling to have; to know that you are loved SO MUCH! May you all remember just how much Jesus loves you during this Holy week.

We are preparing for the Silent Auction this week too! Each year, the children work on a project with my help for our auction. At this age, they supply their cute little fingertips and then I take it from there! They get so excited for everyone to see their projects! The Silent Auction is an annual event for our school where parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, friends and community members come together to celebrate our wonderful school. Our auction is on April 25th starting at 5:30, dinner being served from 6:00-7:30 and the live auction beginning at 8:15. Please stop in to the office or call if you would like tickets to join us for a fun-filled evening.

Week of February 24

Spring is almost here!  Right?

That is the hope I keep trying to hold on to as we enter into another cold week! The children and I have been talking about fun things to do in Spring. It seems to help us get through the cold days. We are really looking forward to some more of those 30 degree days!

They are having fun inside though! The children have been experimenting with the sensory table this past week. They have added a box they found in our classroom, a little shelf with lots of holes, and some hard tubes. This has added a whole new aspect to our sensory fun! These fun things along with rice, scoops and funnels create a lot of FUN! Another addition to our classroom is a vacuum sweeper for all the FUN.

I am looking at doing some other fun activities with our sensory table and we are looking for some items to add to explore with. Please keep checking out our ‘Wish List’ at the bottom of our weekly news. Also, if you have any great ideas or would like to help create a fun sensory play area for our classroom, please let me know! I would love help!

Our Wishlist:

– Sticky pads for 3M hooks

– 8×10 or 11×14 frames – we do not need the glass or backs. Nothing new – we will re-purpose and paint them

– Colored ink stamp pads

– Magazines or pictures of Saints for our Saint Collages

– Sets of new or gently used toys (Bristle Blocks, Potato Head Pieces)

– Square pillows for our reading area

– We are looking to expand our library:

* Llama Llama books

* Little Critter Books

* If you give a… Books (If you give a mouse a cookie, If you give a moose a muffin…)

* PVC pipes (extra pieces from a project, any size)
