Grade 1

Jesus is our Good Shepherd! Psalms 23. This week our focus is knowing Jesus will always find us even if we become lost. He is our Shepherd and we are His sheep. Art: creating wooly sheep and Mother’s Day surprises! Reading: long i words, Cause and effect and Contractions. Math: Place Value, Relationships: > <  = and Number Stories. Social Studies: Continents and Oceans Globes. The kids’ paper bag globes are amazing. Please help them study the location of each continent and ocean. Thank You, God! Happy Spring!

Grade 2

I would like to start off by saying how INCREDIBLY PROUD I am of the second graders who received First Communion on Sunday.  Thank you, also, to the moms and dads that helped them prepare for this special day.  They are all such blessings in my life.  In religion, we are going to be reading about how it is our job to carry on the work of Jesus.  In reading, we are taking the Theme 5 test. We are going to go back to doing some journal writing and learning more about how to divide words into syllables.  In math, we took the Unit 7 test and will start Unit 8 which focuses on fractions.  Please remember that we are going on our field trip on Friday.  Students need a bag lunch and need to wear good walking shoes.  Have a great week!

Grade 3

“Commitment” is a word we are learning about as we study the Sacraments of Holy Orders and Matrimony. During math, we continue to explore the volume of a container and are learning what capacity means. Our last project for social studies is the East region of the United States.  The students will have the option of making a game board or an information board.  We will be making special cards for our wonderful moms, and we are very excited about our field trip to Lake Carlos on Friday!

Grade 4

The class did a great job of singing, reading and leading us at mass today!  We are excited for our field trip on Friday to the aquarium and Fort Snelling.  The tomato and pepper plants have been moved out to the greenhouse.  The plants will go on sale following the spring program.  Students are busy memorizing their parts for the program.  A Happy Mother’s Day to all of you.

Grade 5

We are finally back to a normal schedule. With MCA testing and other things, it is kind of nice to be back to normal! In language arts we are continuing to read our novel unit books, and in writing we are starting a new unit on research writing. In music we are getting our last-minute practices and such in for the program next week. Hope to see you all there!

Grade 6

We are so excited for our field trip. Please ask your child many questions about Fort Snelling and Underwater World because we have been studying all about our destinations. Remember to pack nutritious snacks and lunches.  We will be doing a lot of walking, and we need to keep up our strength! We are also preparing for the spring program on the 14th.  We hope everyone can make it. The students are sounding fabulous.  Only three weeks of school left; please study for those final exams and read for AR points. Have a beautiful Mother’s Day to all of those beautiful mothers!
