Hi.  I am Brenda Gugglberger, and this is my 6th year as principal at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Catholic School in Long Prairie, Minnesota.

I graduated from Bemidji State Univeristy in 1986 with a Bachelor of Science degree in English and from St. Cloud State University in 1994 with a Masters of Science administrative degree as a reading consultant.  I taught high school English at MACCRAY in Clara City for 6 years and high school English, Title I, and media studies at Bertha-Hewitt Schools in Bertha for 14 years.  During my time at Bertha-Hewitt, I was on a two-year leave and taught reading at Long Prairie-Grey Eagle Middle School in Long Prairie during one of those years.  I truly loved the community and was impressed by its educational system, so it was a dream come true to accept a job at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Catholic School and call Long Prairie my hometown.

I have been married to Manfred Gugglberger for 15 years, and we have 3 living children:  Andrew, 14; Alison, 10; and Sahra, 8.  We lost our second son, Stefan, when he was stillborn in 1997.  Andrew attends 8th grade at Long Prairie-Grey Eagle Middle School, and Alison and Sahra attend school at St. Mary's.

As a family, we enjoy many activities, but we especially like skiing in the winter.  (I actually like to drink coffee in the chalet.)

There is no greater joy than to help children learn about and love Jesus.  I love the staff, parents, parishioners, and especially the children at St. Mary's.  Our small class sizes and incredible parent support give us a wonderful opportunity to give our students the best possible academic and spiritual education.
